COVID19 Updated information for parents and carers 23 July

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

COVID Update – 23 July 2021

  • COVID lockdown & associated Restrictions have been tightened for the Blacktown Local Government area which specifically applies to our school.
  • NSW Health orders are now that parents and carers in Fairfield, Liverpool, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland and Blacktown LGAs must keep children – of all ages, across primary school, secondary school and early childhood education or care – at home unless they cannot be cared for or educated at home. Schools and outside of school hours care (OOSHC) services are open for any child that needs it where this is the only option.
  • Students must now stay home and work online with the school open (staffed by a very limited number of local staff) for supervision of only those students where parents are working and cannot provide this supervision themselves at home. These students will also do their lessons online while at school – normal classes are not operating.
  • NSW Health rules are that ALL students (and staff) must wear masks whilst indoors at school. Masks also remain compulsory for public transport. Essential Visitors to the school must also wear masks and use the QR code when checking in/out.
  • Should the lockdown be extended beyond Friday 30 July, the staff will prepare and send home packages of work for students unable to work online. More information to follow about receiving these packs once dates are confirmed.
  • Students in the Support Unit already have packages for Weeks 3 & 4 of the term just in case lockdowns are extended. Further packages will be prepared and then posted if necessary.
  • Non-essential visitors to the school are not permitted on site at all.
  • All school facilities are closed to community users until further notice.
  • The school Canteen remains closed until further notice.
  • We are not permitted to run any extra-curricular activities until further notice.
  • Year 12 Trial Exams have been postponed and will hopefully be held in Weeks 5 & 6 of this term. The HSC Trial exam period is scheduled to start on Monday 9 August – this will change again if lockdowns are extended.
  • There is now no access for students completing major works on-site and I am not permitted to allow any students to pick up major works now that the lockdown has been tightened. This applies to any music students preparing to rehearse.
  • More advice around the HSC will be provided as soon as I have it. We have been assured that the HSC will proceed and NESA will take into consideration all the issues being faced by students when HSC results are calculated.

Please keep an eye on our website or Facebook page for any further changes.
