Student-Athlete Code of Conduct

Introduction

The Hills Sports High School (THSHS) is proud to deliver the Talented Sports Program (TSP), a specialised initiative designed to nurture the athletic, academic, and personal development of student-athletes.
Selection into the TSP is both an honour and a responsibility. By accepting a place in the program, students and their families agree to uphold the highest standards of effort, behaviour, and sportsmanship on and off the field.

Student-Athlete Responsibilities

TSP student-athletes are expected to:

  1. Commitment and Attendance

    • Attend all scheduled training sessions, games, and events unless injured or unwell.

      • Injured students will be supplied an alternate training pattern and it is expected they will complete it
    • Communicate absences promptly to your coach or mentor.

  2. Respect and Conduct

    • Follow all directions from school staff and coaches.
    • Represent The Hills Sports High School with pride and integrity at all times.
    • Demonstrate respect toward teammates, opponents, officials, and staff.
    • Maintain a positive and responsible digital footprint, including social media behaviour.
  3. Academic Standards

    • Maintain consistent academic progress and complete all classwork to the best of your ability.
    • Balance sporting commitments with academic responsibilities.
  4. Uniform and Presentation

    • Wear the correct school and TSP uniform at all times, including training and competitions.
  5. Sportsmanship and Team Culture

    • Display leadership, humility, and teamwork in every sporting environment.
    • Compete with effort, fairness, and respect for the game.
  6. Health and Safety

    • Report injuries or illness immediately to your coach or mentor.
    • Follow medical and recovery plans as advised.
    • Parents are encouraged to ensure their child has suitable private health insurance.
  7. Financial Obligations

    • Pay all TSP fees by the due date each year to secure your placement in the program.

      • Student-athletes may be removed from their chosen Talented Sports Program if payments are not made in full by the specified due date. If families are unable to meet this deadline, they must contact the school office or the Director of Sport to make alternative arrangements.
  8. Integrity and Fair Play

    • Abstain from any performance-enhancing or prohibited substances.
    • Uphold the principles of honesty, effort, and ethical behaviour at all times.

Academic and Behavioural Expectations

Enrolment in the Talented Sports Program is conditional upon meeting both academic and behavioural standards.
Students who fail to maintain satisfactory progress or display conduct contrary to school values may be:

Medical and Insurance

While every precaution is taken to ensure student safety, The Hills Sports High School cannot provide personal insurance for injuries sustained during TSP activities.
Parents and carers are strongly encouraged to maintain private health or accident insurance for their child. In the event of illness or injury, the school may authorise emergency treatment and associated costs remain the responsibility of parents or guardians.
