Dear Year 12 Student & Year 12 Parent/Caregiver,
There have been some important changes to Year 12 as a result of the disruption to our school because of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Assessment Tasks
· Year 12 students have now been issued with changed Assessment Task schedules which include changes to the number, the types and weightings of tasks required to satisfy the HSC courses.
Trial HSC Exams
· The Trial HSC Exams will run as scheduled in Weeks 1 & 2 of Term 3, commencing on Tuesday 21 July. A timetable will be issued for this exam period shortly.
NESA & HSC Exam Dates
· The HSC will commence on Tuesday 20 October 2020 and will conclude on Wednesday 11 November 2020 – this means the whole exam period runs approximately 4 days later than originally planned.
· Exam timetables have been released by NESA and are available on their website and through the student login on their website.
· Language Oral Exams start on 15 August – an updated timetable is now available on NESA website.
· Industrial Technology - Major Project (Product) – now due 27 August.
· Visual Arts – Body of Work – now due 14 September.
· VET Subjects with work placement – if you are unable to complete the work placement, you’ll still be eligible to receive the corresponding units of HSC credit.
· All Year 12 students (unless exempted) must meet the HSC minimum standards in Literacy & Numeracy – there are now more opportunities to complete the tests if you haven’t already done so. See Mr Gadow to discuss.
Last Day of School for Year 12
· The Department of Education has announced that Year 12 are required to attend school up until the end of Week 1 of Term 4 (i.e. Friday 16 October). This is to provide extra teaching time to compensate for lessons missed whilst the school was closed.
· Therefore, Year 12 lessons will continue in our school until Thursday 15 October.
Graduation Assembly & Formal
· Year 12 Graduation & Presentation Assembly is now scheduled for Friday 16 October starting at 9am (changed from Thursday 24 September). This may again be subject to change pending any COVID restrictions that may be in place at that time. Further details will follow.
· Only students eligible to receive the HSC this year will graduate at this ceremony.
· Year 12 Formal date is now Tuesday 17 November at the same venue – Rydges Norwest - 6pm Arrival for 6.30pm Start, Concluding at 10.30pm. This is changed from Thursday 24 September and is also subject to any COVID restrictions that may still be in place at the time.
HSC Results
· HSC results will be available on Friday 18 December.
Attendance
· All students must be in attendance for all HSC exams scheduled unless medically unfit. There is no re-scheduling of HSC exams to another date.
· All students must attend Trial HSC exams unless a doctor’s certificate states otherwise. There may be some re-scheduling of Trial Exams.
Student Reports
· Year 12 reports for the half-way point of their course (end of Term 1) have been completed and have been posted home.
· A different style of Year 12 parent/teacher interviews is underway by phone – this runs from 1 June until 12 June.
· For the next and final Year 12 report, we are planning to issue these as per our normal schedule in late Term 3.
I continue to aim to keep you updated to changes and plans as quickly as possible.
Yours sincerely
