Technology Mandatory 7-8

At The Hills Sports High School, we offer every student in Year 7 and 8 the chance to explore the various areas of Technology in the Stage 4, Technology Mandatory course. The course enables students to become responsible users of technologies and designers of solutions. Technology Mandatory provides students with practical skills such as using tools and materials safely and independently, thinking skills when designing and producing solutions, and project management skills from design and production, to evaluation.

The study of Technology Mandatory in Years 7 and 8 enables students to become responsible users of technologies and designers of solutions. Through the practical application of knowledge and understanding, students develop skills in the safe use of a range of technologies to design, produce and evaluate solutions to identified needs and opportunities.

The subject areas that are covered in Technology Mandatory course at The Hills Sports High School include:

-       Agriculture and Food Technologies

-       Materials Technologies focussing on the following context areas –Timber, Textiles and Metal, where students are involved in the construction of individual projects.

-       Engineering Systems- Design, construction and racing of a CO2 Dragsters

-       Digital Technology- Computer Aided Design (CAD), coding and operation of drones Makeblock and Parrot drones.

Following Technology Mandatory, students at The Hills Sports High School will have the opportunity to choose elective subjects in Stage 5 continuing their learning along the Technologies continuum.
