Technological and applied studies

In TAS, students use a range of tools, materials and techniques in the design process and technological experiences through theory and practical lessons. As well as the mandatory study of technology, students can select from a range of elective TAS subjects.

Technological and applied studies (TAS) is mandatory for all students in Year 7 and 8. Students can also select from a range of elective TAS subjects.

Stage 4 - Technology Mandatory

This is a mandatory course consisting of areas of study in:

  • Design and Production
  • Agriculture and Food Technologies
  • Digital Technologies
  • Engineering Systems
  • Material Technologies

Students will be exposed to a range of practical experiences and project based learning activities.

In Year 7 Students will complete the following Projects

  • Timber Technology (Pencil Box)
  • Coding and Digital Technology (Drones )
  • Food Technology
  • Textiles and Design

In Year 8 Students will complete the following Projects

  • Timber Technology (Wooden Stool)
  • Metal Technology
  • Food Technology
  • Engineered systems (CO2 Racer)

Stage 5

Years 9 & 10 elective courses.

Courses offered for study include:

  • Food Technology
  • Graphics Technology (Computer aided design, 3D printed solutions, Traditional Drawing and Laser cutting)
  • Industrial Technology Engineering (Computer aided design, Robotics and 3D printed solutions)
  • Industrial Technology Metal (Campfir BBQ, Toolbox, F Clamp)
  • Industrial Technology Timber (Toolbox and Beach Chair)

Stage 6

Years 11 and 12 are elective years with students electing to study subjects in the Preliminary and HSC courses.

  • Engineering Studies
  • Food Technology
  • Industrial Technology – Timber & Furniture
  • VET Construction
  • VET Hospitality
