In TAS, students use a range of tools, materials and techniques in the design process and technological experiences through theory and practical lessons. As well as the mandatory study of technology, students can select from a range of elective TAS subjects.
Technological and applied studies (TAS) is mandatory for all students in Year 7 and 8. Students can also select from a range of elective TAS subjects.
Stage 4 - Technology Mandatory
This is a mandatory course consisting of areas of study in:
· Design and Production
· Agriculture and Food Technologies
· Digital Technologies
· Engineering Systems
· Material Technologies
Students will be exposed to a range of practical experiences and project based learning activities.
In Year 7 Students will complete the following Projects
· Timber Technology (Pencil Box)
· Coding and Digital Technology (Drones )
· Food Technology
· Textiles and Design
In Year 8 Students will complete the following Projects
· Timber Technology (Wooden Stool)
· Metal Technology
· Food Technology
· Engineered systems (CO2 Racer)
Stage 5
Years 9 & 10 are elective years, with students electing to study subjects for 100 hours, 200 hours or in some cases, studying one semester courses.
Subjects offered for study include:
· iSTEM 100 Hour (Computer aided design, Robotics and 3D printed solutions)
· iSTEM 200 Hour (Advanced Mechanical concepts, Simulating flight, Coding solutions)
· Timber Technology 100 Hour (Toolbox and Beach Chair)
· Timber Technology 200 Hour (Cabinet)
· Graphics (Computer aided design, 3D printed solutions, Traditional Drawing and Laser cutting)
· Metal Technology 100 / 200 Hour
· Child Studies 100 / 200 Hour
· Food Technology 100 / 200 Hour
· Textiles Technology 100Hour
Stage 6
Years 11 and 12 are elective years with students electing to study subjects in the Preliminary and HSC courses.
