UPDATE FOR YEAR 12 STUDENTS & PARENTS

UPDATE FOR YEAR 12 STUDENTS & PARENTS

Dear Year 12 Student & Year 12 Parent/Caregiver,

There have been some important changes to Year 12 events and dates because of the COVID-19 restrictions.

HSC COVID Protocols for Students

NESA & HSC Exam Dates

  • The HSC written exams will commence on Tuesday 9 November 2021 and will conclude on Wednesday 1 December 2021 – this means the whole exam period runs several weeks later than originally planned.
  • Exam timetables have been released by NESA and are available on their website and through the student login on their website.
  • All Year 12 students (unless exempted) must meet the HSC minimum standards in Literacy & Numeracy – there are now more opportunities to complete the requirement if you haven’t already done so, including during the HSC Exam period up until 30 November. See Mr Gadow to discuss.

Last Day of School for Year 12

  • The Department of Education announced that the official last day of attendance for Year 12 was 17 September 2021.
  • Online lessons for revision and consolidation will continue until Friday 5 November.
  • Face to face sessions can be arranged with teachers by appointment up until 5 November and during the examination period if needed.
  • Study bubbles can be arranged by contacting Ms Potts.

HSC Exams

  • ·         All students must be in attendance for all HSC exams scheduled unless medically unfit. There is no re-scheduling of HSC exams to another date.
  • ·         Should there be a COVID case in the school forcing school closure or other disruption to the HSC exam, alternative exam venues have been organised.
  • ·         Details on the exact HSC organisation with alternative venues and instructions on what to do should the school be disrupted is included in the COVID Safe HSC Student Information package 2021, being issued to students.
  • For each exam, students will need to complete a health declaration and record attendance on the school visitor sheets and sit in the assigned seat for the examination.
  • Any student with cold or flu like symptoms will be turned away and will be required to be tested for COVID before returning. In this case an Illness Misadventure procedure will be undertaken so as not to disadvantage the student in the HSC.

Graduation Assembly

  • Year 12 Graduation & Presentation Assembly has been re- scheduled and will now take place on Wednesday 8 December (which is after the HSC) starting at 9am. This may again be subject to change pending any COVID restrictions that may be in place at that time.
  • There are currently restrictions to the size of the audience – this will currently be limited to Year 12 students and ONE guest only. Tickets will be issued for Year 12 and a guest and will contain seat numbers. Each guest attending will be required to use the assigned seat and to register their attendance before entering the hall. Anyone with flu like symptoms will be turned away.
  • No external visitors to the school are permitted on the school grounds except to go directly to the hall for the ceremony. Parking is outside the school grounds for this event and pedestrians will be asked to enter via the driveway gate and proceed directly to the hall.
  • Year 12 will be required earlier (8 am) in order to pick up a graduation gown and for photos before the ceremony.
  • Only students eligible to receive the HSC this year will graduate at this ceremony.

Formal

  • The Year 12 Formal date is now Wednesday 8 December at the same venue – Rydges Norwest - 6.30pm Start, Concluding at 10.30pm. This is also subject to any COVID restrictions that may still be in place at the time.
  • No audience is permitted for arrivals and only those attending the formal will be allowed into the grounds of the hotel. There will be no red-carpet arrival. Students will go directly to their seats when they arrive, there will be no viewing of arrivals.
  • Parents picking up students at the end of the evening should remain with their cars in the car park – students go to the car directly from the door of the venue.
  • All students and staff will be required to sign into the venue and sit at pre-assigned seats.
  • Other restrictions due to COVID will be communicated closer to the event by the hotel.
  • Should the hotel cancel due to COVID restrictions in force at the time – there will be no other opportunity for us to re-schedule this event.

Year 12 Sign Out of School

  • Year 12 students will be required to sign out from the school from Wednesday 1 December and at that time School References will be ready for pick up at the school office.

HSC Results

  • HSC results will be available online from 24 January 2022

I continue to aim to keep you updated to changes and plans as quickly as possible.
